Alaska & Horizon Simplify Fares

Alaska Airlines and sister carrier Horizon Air have implemented a new, simplified fare structure for all routes between Canada and the Continental U.S. because, Alaska said, "the convoluted nature of airline pricing seems to be a major deterrent to flying."

Alaska said its new transborder-fare structure slashes prices by as much as 30% and reduces the number of individual coach fares to as few as five. Business fares that require little or no advance purchase or minimum stays have been reduced by hundreds of dollars on some routes, the airline said. Also, with most fares, minimum-stay and day-of-week restrictions have been reduced or eliminated.
