Airline Flight Service Updates

AirTran New Flight Service

Effective May 21, AirTran Airways began two new daily nonstop flights between Philadelphia International Airport and Boston's Logan Airport. The new service features all new Boeing 717 jet aircraft.

AirTran also began daily nonstop service to Denver International Airport, making Denver the airline's 41st destination. The airline launched two daily nonstop flights between Denver and Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, with connections to all of the airline's destinations across the country. All flights to/from Denver will operate using new Boeing 717 aircraft.

Effective July 2, 2003, AirTran Airways will operate a third additional daily nonstop flight between Denver and Atlanta. The airline continues its westward expansion this summer with the addition of Los Angeles (beginning June 4) and Las Vegas (June 11).

Air Jamaica Suspends Service to Belize

Beginning June 2, Air Jamaica suspended its thrice-weekly service to Belize City, which began in November. The flights operated on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays between Montego Bay and Belize City. The service suspension is part of a package of cost-cutting measures that the carrier and its tour arm, Air Jamaica Vacations, began implementing in March.

British Airways Eliminates First Class

British Airways plans to eliminate first-class seating on some of the carrier's long-haul 777 aircraft serving U.S. gateways. The strategy would focus on Boeing 777 aircraft serving such U.S. gateways as Denver, Phoenix and San Diego, according to BA officials. The changes may come when those aircraft are fitted with the revamped Club World business class, sporting lie-flat beds. Markets with higher demand for premium services, including Boston, Chicago, Newark, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, will not be affected. The carrier emphasized that the change does not represent a general move away from first class.

Delta Restores Shuttle Service

Hourly flights are coming back for Delta's Shuttle service between Boston, New York (/spacer.gif) and Washington (/spacer.gif). Delta said it will restore the hourly schedule beginning June 2. The carrier had reduced the frequencies during the Iraq war because of the war-related decline in demand. The restored schedule will offer 16 New York-Washington and 15 New York-Boston flights every weekday. Weekend and holiday schedules may vary.

Hooters Air New Flight Service

Hooters Air intends to add non-stop service on June 6 to Myrtle Beach, SC from Baltimore/Washington Int'l Airport. The ticket price for the service is $129 one-way. Hooters Air flights are operated by Pace Airlines.

New Northwest Service from Milwaukee

Beginning July 1, 2003, Northwest Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will begin offering new nonstop service from Milwaukee to six popular domestic destinations. Northwest/KLM will offer one daily nonstop flight from Milwaukee to Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York LaGuardia, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. (Reagan National). The new service will be on A319 or A320 aircraft and complements existing nonstop service from Milwaukee to Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Memphis.

Passengers flying on any of the six new nonstop routes from Milwaukee between July 1 and September 30, 2003 will earn 2,000 WorldPerks Bonus Miles for each roundtrip itinerary. Registration is required. For complete details, refer to the NTM Supplier pages of our Web site, or Click Here.

United Restores Flight Service

United announced plans to restore 162 flights--many dropped during the Iraq war--to its June schedule. The carrier will restore all transatlantic service cutbacks made in May and some service in the Pacific. United is still seeing weakness in bookings to several Pacific routes and will continue to monitor Pacific bookings on a daily basis with homes to return to their full Asian schedule by fall 2003.

US Airways New Flight Service

US Airway initiated daily nonstop service between Boston and Bermuda using 120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. Flights depart Boston at 8:15 a.m., and arrive in Bermuda at 11:22 a.m. Return flights depart Bermuda at 3 p.m., and arrive in Boston at 4:17 p.m.

Starting June 14, US Airways plans to add weekend service between Fort Lauderdale, FL and Bermuda.

Beginning November 8, US Airways will offer nonstop service from its hubs in Philadelphia and Charlotte to San Jose, Costa Rica.
