Travel Pro Compares Net to Agency

Terry Trippler sees agency bias … toward HIM!

Terry Trippler has been in the travel business since the 1970's. He's famous for travel truth telling, and saying things that some in the industry might not like. Trippler's latest take in a three-part series on agency versus Net says it all. Here's his intro:

Note to Media:
Yes, my travel agent is good - and is biased - towards ME! This clearly showed in an Internet-Travel Agent comparison. Just another example of ... Stuff a good travel agent knows / does.

Trippler's most recent comparison on an international flight to Seoul was instructive.

Net

Agency

Price

$2,518

$1,960

Itinerary

Stop in Tokyo

Non-stop to Seoul

Schedule

Hassle, long time

Better, shorter

Bias

Toward United Airlines

Toward traveler

Two great comments from Trippler:

1. "You know sometimes getting the best itinerary and price involves more than just 'point and click'".
2. "Was my travel agent's $45 consulting fee worth it? You decide - I already have. "
